Well, March Madness is over. Congratulations to all of the college teams that made it to the big show in the first place. Congratulations to Kentucky for their win over Kansas. I thought it was great that 4 Ohio schools were represented in the Sweet Sixteen. The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Ohio University Bobcats, the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, and the Xavier Musketeers represented Ohio with one-fourth of the Sweet Sixteen contingent. Congratulations to these Ohio Schools!
Additionally, I want to give one more shout out to my coaches and teammates from the St. Clairsville Red Devils Boys Basketball team. I've thought lately about our run to the Ohio State Tournament Final Four and how the quality of each individual player and coach made this run possible. We were never the biggest team on the hardwood but we were almost always the best team on the floor when it counted most. It is great to belong to one team with one dream! Our athleticism, our speed, and our work ethic continued to help us win games; however, it was the unity of this team that led us to win championships and set school records. I am happy to say that our entire team will be together again next year as we did all of this without the help of one senior. I promise that this team will return stronger, faster, and more skilled than ever before! Our quest will be to handle one game at a time and continue to develop our personal skills and our team skills in preparation for a Final Four appearance in Columbus during March of 2013.
If you want to see more basketball, I'll be playing in several tournaments this spring and summer. Send me a note on twitter and I'll send you more information. Twitter@jmar_80
I am headed to the gym now. - Jerrid Marhefka
