Track and Basketball
Well you know how it goes! I am still playing basketball (OYB). We played a tournament in West Virginia last weekend - 1 game on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. We won the tournament and I am proud of my teammates for great play. I play this weekend in Hilliard for the 20th Annual OYB State Championship at Hilliard Davidson High School in Columbus. Track Season Begins
Track season is upon us. We had a great football season, a wonderful basketball season, and we are on our way to a great track season. I am looking forward to the high-jump and the 4x100 and 4x200 relays with my boys Michael Ferns, Alex Young, and Jaylon Brown! Let's do this! - Jerrid Marhefka

More Basketball
Yesterday afternoon I played some tournament basketball in West Virginia. Great group of players that I haven't got to practice with because of our State run. Tough Day at the Schott
What a great season it has been for St. Clairsville Basketball! Thank to Coaches Clifford, Sacco, Gay for a great season and a great experience at the Ohio State University. Thanks to all of my teammates, especially Dan Monteroso, Riley Carlton, Adam Jeffries, Joel Giffin, Jared Burghy, Dillon Campbell and the rest of my boys! One Team, One Dream continues. We have done a great job for such a young team. When you consider our school size (216) and the fact that we have no seniors on our team, we have represented very well.
We've now been to the dance and we know what it takes. It takes more than we had. If you really, really want it, work hard in the off-season to get it during the 2012-2013 season. One Team, One Dream continues! See you on the hardwood! - Jerrid Marhefka

Final Four
Wow! Long day. Bus ride to Athens, 4 tough periods, and yet another victory! Fantastic day from our team - we live to play another day. Final Four; State Tournament in Columbus at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Value City Arena - Home of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Hard work, team play, and envisioning success are key! Thanks coach! Thanks teammates! Thanks fans! Thanks parents! Thank God. Good night. More in the morning.
Peparation
We had a great practice yesterday and given the short time between games, I believe we are well prepared to for the game ahead. Teammates - GYMR (Get Your Mind Right). Envision the victory. Ready for Athens!
We had a 2-hour delay all week due to some required testing for underclassmen. That has been nice all week. Start today with a 2-hour delay, an hour-and-a-half of classes, a Pep Rally, then on the bus to Athens. Let's go teammates; GYMR (Get Your Mind Right), play hard, have fun! - Jerrid

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette mourns the passing of Joe Marhefka '24 of Easton, the College's oldest alumnus, who died Monday, June 30, in Easton Hospital. He was 101. A memorial service will be announced.
A halfback on Lafayette's 1921 national championship football team and an avid supporter of Lafayette sports throughout his life, Marhefka was saluted by the College on his 100th birthday, Feb. 16, 2002, at halftime of the Lafayette-Navy varsity basketball game. In addition, Easton Mayor Tom Goldsmith '63 proclaimed "Joe Marhefka Day" in the city.
Joseph Cyril Marhefka, known as "Mr. Joe," and his wife, the former Gladys Walker, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last November.
A longtime Easton resident, he was a beloved teacher of Latin and English and sports coach at March Junior High School for 40 years before retiring in 1968. Born Feb. 16, 1902, in Phillipsburg, he graduated from St. Precopius Prep School before attending Lafayette.
Marhefka played professional football for the Pottsville Maroons and the Philadelphia Quakers and officiated at many high school and college football games.
He had been a member of the Pomfret Club, Northampton Country Club, YR Club, all in Easton, and the National Education Association and Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials, which recognized him with an award for his many years of service.
In addition to his wife, Marhefka is survived by two grandchildren, a great-grandson, and nieces, nephews. His only son, Dr. Joseph Marhefka, died in 1981.
Contributions in his name may be made to the College.
